Holistic Health and Managing Mental Loads as a Mom with Brooke Rozmenoski

In this episode of Redefining Motherhood, I had the pleasure of interviewing Brooke Rozmenoski, a Functional Nutritionist Practitioner and proud owner of Brooke Rozzie Coaching. Together we dove into topics around prioritizing health, the significance of understanding hormonal health, body image, and self-care for mothers. I've been there myself - feeling overwhelmed and struggling to make time for self-care. But it doesn't have to be this way, and Brooke shares with us how to lessen the overwhelm and take better care of ourselves!

Hormones and Menstrual Cycles

Brooke discussed the impact of hormones throughout our menstrual cycles. From the "power stage" of high estrogen to common pre-period symptoms, she provided a helpful framework for understanding our monthly rhythms.

Balancing Hormones

Brooke stressed the importance of nutrition for hormone balance. She shared the "PFFP" approach - including protein, fat, fiber, and phytonutrients at each meal. Small changes like adding eggs to breakfast and staying hydrated can make a big difference in how we feel.

Self-Care & Lessening the Mental Load

Beyond individual health, Brooke dove into prioritizing self-care as a mother. She talked about dividing responsibilities equitably with her partner. Many loads we carry as women are "silent". Brooke encourages us to open communication with our partners letting them know where we feel overwhelmed so that they can help and share the parenting load. Both parents can support each other's needs.

The takeaway of this episode is that holistic well-being requires attention to both our physical and emotional health. By tuning into our bodies signals and communicating respectfully with loved ones, we can redefine motherhood on our own terms. This thought-provoking discussion provided tools to feel our best - no matter what stage of parenting we're in.
